In Britain, furniture isn’t just made—it’s crafted. And when it comes to bespoke cabinetmaking, NEJ Stevenson stands proudly at the forefront of that tradition, proving that true craftsmanship cannot be mass-produced.
Britain has long been a beacon for craftsmanship. British-made furniture has always stood for integrity, skill, and attention to detail, from the grandest stately homes to the most refined city residences.
At NEJ Stevenson, we have been flying that flag since 1984. From a humble garage in Staffordshire, founder Neil Stevenson built the business on the foundations of fine craft, ethical practice, and creative collaboration. Today, we serve the Royal Household, renowned designers, heritage organisations and private clients who value bespoke craftsmanship above all.
And we’re not just saying that. We are proud to have held a Royal Warrant as Cabinet Makers since 2003, firstly to the Queen and then to it was awarded to His Majesty the King. This rare honour reflects our commitment to the highest standards of British design and manufacture.
NEJ Stevenson is also increasingly recognised for shaping the interiors of London’s most beautiful homes. Our work is seen in projects in Knightsbridge, Mayfair, Chelsea, Primrose Hill, Belgravia, and beyond, including a project we had the pleasure of collaborating on with acclaimed US Interior designer Markham Roberts.
We believe furniture should be more than functional, it should be meaningful. Each piece we craft, in close collaboration with our clients, is unique in terms of design and materials, meaning no two pieces are ever the same; they are truly one-of-a-kind.
This philosophy recently came to life in a striking London residence for French fashion Designer Caroline Sciamma. Interior designer Peter Mikic worked with Caroline to create a bold and fashionable dwelling. We were commissioned to create a bespoke dressing room, a statement bar, custom office shelving, and hand-built bathroom vanities and cabinets. The result? A home that tells a story of individuality, craft, and quiet luxury.
Our craft isn’t just recognised—it’s making a difference. At the Distillers One of One auction, we handcrafted two exquisite presentation whisky cases that raised over £1 million for charity. Created from American black walnut and black-stained sycamore, the cases housed some of the rarest whiskies in the world and celebrated British design and charitable giving.
We are also proud that over 55% of our materials are sourced within 50 miles of our Warwickshire workshop—supporting local industries, reducing our carbon footprint, and ensuring ethical, sustainable production.
Bespoke furniture isn’t just about the finish — it’s about the feeling it evokes. There’s an understated luxury and poetry in knowing that every piece begins with the finest grain of wood, hand-selected and shaped with meticulous care and masterful craftsmanship into something truly extraordinary.
Only British cabinetmakers like NEJ Stevenson can offer this, which explains why a ‘Made in Britain’ status will always feel special and worth celebrating.
