Investing in the Future: The Role of Apprenticeships

December 21, 2024

At N.E.J. Stevenson, we believe that the foundation of any successful business lies in its people. Our apprenticeship scheme is at the heart of this philosophy, playing a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of skilled craftspeople. On-the-job training isn’t just the best way to teach someone the intricacies of our craft – it’s how we ensure the sustainability of our workforce and the future of bespoke furniture making.

Apprenticeships are a serious commitment for us, requiring both time and financial resources. But we see this investment as a long-term strategy. Many of our most successful team members began their careers as apprentices, demonstrating that hands-on experience, coupled with our industry expertise, truly prepares individuals for career as a cabinetmaker.

This year, we are excited to welcome our newest apprentice, Freddie Harris, who joined us in September 2024.

Freddie has always had a passion for making, a skill he honed from a young age by working with his parents in various capacities. His early experiences fuelled his desire to pursue craftsmanship professionally, and we are thrilled to support his journey.

Freddie’s story is a reminder of why we place such value on our apprenticeship scheme. Our apprenticeship programme is about nurturing talent, investing in potential, and ensuring the legacy of quality craftsmanship continues for generations to come.
