Our ethos at NEJ Stevenson has always been to be as sustainable and respectful of the natural materials we use in all our manufacturing processes.
As bespoke furniture makers we always keep all spare veneer, which we use if we ever need to make a complimentary piece for a client, as well as to live our value of minimising wastage.
As such we are always looking for ideas to reuse and recycle whenever we can.
One such innovation is the creation of handmade and unique coasters, made using the reclaimed materials from various species of left-over veneers.
Our Apprentices are responsible for making each coaster, and we send them to our clients as a token of our appreciation. Each coaster has the NEJ Stevenson disk in the centre and is engraved with the first name of our clients. Symbolising that we put our clients at the heart of all our work.
To date we have created nearly 100 and our surprised clients are telling us how much they appreciate receiving them, “What a delightful surprise in the post this morning! Thank you so much for the lovely coasters! I will make sure they take prime position on my desk!
And another client said, “Just wanted to say thank for the lovely coaster you kindly sent me. What a great idea. I love the fact that it was personalised and made by your Apprentices using reclaimed items from your workshop.”
Owner, Neil Stevenson explains the rationale behind the project “At the end of 2021 we started creating bespoke coasters as gifts for our clients to show how much we appreciate their custom.
“It is very satisfying to create beautiful, bespoke pieces using reclaimed materials from our workshops, and offers our Apprentices a perfect project to refine and develop their skills too.”
