Continual Professional Development

With positive news of the premium build and refurbishment sector continuing to lift we've seen a rise in the number of requests for dedicated CPD talks, in particular those which focus on timber selection and sustainability.

Neil Stevenson conducted a wide ranging talk for KSR Architects and Folio Design covering the need for relevant information and communication between the designer and the craftsman, along with a section on ways to reduce costs when specifying fitted joinery. But the element that generated the greatest interest was the section dedicated to timber selection. So valuable was this portion to our hosts we have been invited back to expand on specific areas of material specification and appropriate uses, with smaller groups.

In addition to the CPD above we have also found our talk on timber sustainability to be of value to Fanshawe LLP, a professional Chartered Quantity Surveying and Project Management firm who approached us via an internet search. The hour long talk wasn't sufficient to cover the subject in great detail but it did help to highlight the common mistakes in specification, particularly with regard to the bias towards FSC certification in the majority of documents.

If you have not yet attended one of our CPD events, or asked us to deliver a dedicated presentation to your own in-house team onsite and would like to do so, please take a look at our events to learn a little more about what it takes to get a design to completion. You'll see our three primary CPD's and the date for the next 'Specifying Joinery' event is scheduled to take place on Friday 3rd October, 2014.
